F.A. Child Protection

Every child or young person who plays or participates in football should be able to take part in an enjoyable and safe environment and be protected from abuse, this is the responsibility of every adult involved in football.

‘Children Ensuring Safety in Football’ is a three hour workshop for those involved at all levels of football including club officials, coaches, medical staff, referees, helpers, and volunteers.

Workshop Objectives;

On completion of the workshop candidates should be able to:

• State the reasons why sport needs to address child protection
• Identify and apply good practice principles to football and identify areas to develop
• Recognise signs, symptoms and forms of abuse
• Identify what behaviour in football would give cause for concern
• Identify their feelings in relation to concerns including abuse
• Describe actions if there are concerns about the welfare of a young person
• State the rules and responsibilities of agencies, organisations and personnel involved in Child Protection in football

Entry Requirements:

There are no formal pre-requisites, however it is essential that applicants are eighteen years or older.
On successfully completing the workshop applicants shall be awarded in Partnership with the FA, a Child Protection Certificate.

Course Programme:

This workshop takes place at the Liverpool Soccer Centre, Walton Hall Park, Liverpool.
The cost of participating in this workshop is £22.
