1st 4 Sport Level 2 Certificate in the Treatment and Management of Injury (F.A.)
The Level 2 Certificate (formerly known as the Basic Award), provides a basic foundation and is aimed at personnel acting as a manager, coach, trainer or therapist for junior and adult teams and for teachers responsible for school teams.
The course provides candidates with the basis knowledge and skills to manage and treat injuries sustained in football. Through a combination of practical and theoretical assessment, candidates will learn the fundamentals and gain invaluable ‘hands-on’ experience.
Applicants should be 17 years of age or older, and must hold the F.A. Child Protection and Emergency Aid certificates
Course Content;
• Basic anatomy and physiology
• Injury effects and recognition
• Common football injuries to groin, knee and ankle
• Compression and supporting bandages
The certificate is awarded on the successful completion of written and practical assessment.
1st 4 Sport Level 3 Certificate in the Treatment and Management of Injury (F.A.)
The Level 3 course offers those who have successfully completed the Level 2 course the opportunity to expand their knowledge further than this basic level.
To ensure competency levels and training standards are maintained course participants will be assessed by written examination and practical assessment.
The course provides candidates with a more in depth understanding and experience of the anatomical aspects of a footballer’s injury treatment. The knowledge gained is transferable to many field based team sports and serves as the ideal stepping stone for a career in sports therapy.
Applicants should be 18 years of age or older, and hold the Level 2 Certificate in the Treatment and Management of Injury, F.A. Child Protection and Emergency Aid certificates.

• Surface/practical anatomy
• Common football injuries to lower and upper limbs
• Treatment and management of soft tissue injuries
• Foot care to include aspects of podiatry

• Charter Standard – The benefits of being a Charter Standard Club; preparing an Application
