Young Leaders Event 2010

The Football Association and Liverpool County Football Association acknowledges the role volunteers play throughout football and is keen to support the volunteer workforce by offering a range of opportunities and courses to develop their leadership experience.

The North West Regional County FA’s of Lancashire, Manchester, Cheshire, Liverpool, Isle of Man and West Riding have been working closely to develop individual County FA Young Leadership Event’s. Therefore Liverpool County FA’s to be held on:

Tuesday 2nd March 2010, 9.00am – 5.00pm
Liverpool Soccer Centre


The Young Leadership Event will cater for the demand that we experience for young volunteers coming into football from our LCFA Step into Sport Programme. It will provide workshops around Refereeing, Disability Football, and Coaching. The workshops will be delivered by FA Regional and County Staff, as well as our various external partners providing information and support.

The aim and objective of the Event is to provide Young Leaders with an abundance of football knowledge and ideas which will empower them to make a difference in their football communities.

Following on from the Leadership Event, the young leaders must commit to further voluntary work in their local football club and/or school in order to use their new skills and develop their leadership experience.

Criteria for LCFA Young Leadership Event 2010:

All applicants applying to attend the Liverpool County FA’s Event will be required to meet the following criteria:

• Currently enrolled in their School Sports Partnership’s Leadership Academy
• Aged 15 – 17 years old
• Have already gained one of the following qualifications:
o Junior Football Organisers Course (JFO) / Junior Sports Leader Award (JSLA)
o A small sided or basic Referees Course
o Level 1 Certificate in Coaching Football
• Must be committed to volunteering for a further 10 hours in local football club/school after attending the event
• Application endorsed by teacher / SSCO / PDM / club official

Liverpool County FA will select up to 5 Young Leaders from each SSP Leadership Academy or SSP (if you have yet to establish one) to attend our Event. PDM’s, SSCOs and teacher are asked to encourage young people who meet the criteria to complete the nomination form and apply to attend the camp.

The Liverpool County FA Young Leadership Event is a positive opportunity for young people to develop their leadership skills and we will offer the young leaders the chance to increase their knowledge from experienced FA Staff and take back to their football communities.
