Futsal Is Back In Liverpool - Sign Up Today
Futsal; the small-sided, fast-paced format of the beautiful game which has inspired players including Lionel Messi and Neymar, is making a return to Merseyside in 2018, with Liverpool County Football Association (LCFA) is pleased to announce the launch of two brand-new leagues.
Hosted at Anfield Sports and Community Centre every Thursday evening between 7.00pm and 10.00pm, the new LCFA Futsal League will comprise of two divisions – one men’s division and one female division.
For those interested but never played Futsal, Liverpool County FA will also be hosting four Futsal taster sessions in the build-up to the league getting underway, held at Anfield Sports and Community Centre on 8th, 15th, 22nd and 29th March between 7.00pm and 8.00pm.
The LCFA Futsal League itself kicks-off on Thursday 19th April 2018, with the cost of entry £25.00 per-team, per-week. Each team will also receive TWO Futsal balls upon entering the league.
Stuart Carrington, Football Development Officer (Recreational) at Liverpool County FA, said: “We’ve been working on re-launching our Futsal League for the past few months. Futsal is a growing format of the game and we’ve got many male and female teams, and individuals, already interested in playing. We’re delighted that we can finally provide a league for them to participate in.”
Anna Farrell, Football Development Officer (Women and Girls) at Liverpool County FA, added: “We’re delighted to have a Futsal league return to Merseyside, especially with a division that allows women to get involved. In the past, this format of the game has been very popular with female players and we hope it will provide opportunities for women who don’t want to compete in traditional 11-a-side or 5-a-side football – or those that want to play football for the first time.”
Each division has space for a total of eight teams to enter, with registration now open. Each team is allowed a maximum of 12 players in a matchday squad and players must be aged 16 or over.
