2018 Grassroots Football Awards

Grassroots Football Awards - Charter Standard Club of the Year

Today, Liverpool County FA will announces the final winner of this year’s local FA and McDonald’s Grassroots Football Awards, which recognise the hard-work, dedication and commitment of the individuals, clubs and leagues across the nation’s grassroots football community.

Charter Standard Club of the Year – AFC Warner

Massive congratulations to everybody involved in AFC Warner, the winner of this year’s Charter Standard Club of the Year award.

AFC Warner has established itself as a club that is determined to let children, regardless of their ability, play football. It’s not about winning; it’s about putting smiles on children’s faces. The winter training facilities are carefully chosen and in the summer months the club trains on an enclosed environment away from the public eye and wandering dogs. The coaches go out of their way to make sure the kids feel special.

Through commitment and dedication, the club thrives. Without any social facilities to aid revenue, fundraising is achieved through annual tournaments, bag packing, race nights and designated events. They’re all part of the yearly ritual to ensure players don’t go without.

AFC Warner and Peter Lane go over and above – and without their commitment, many would suffer. The club is all about socialising and enjoyment. Winning may come in due course, but until then, it’s all about letting the players play with a smile on their faces.

Well done to everybody at AFC Warner – and thank you for all your work.
