Finn Harps U21

Under-21 League Champions Crowned

Finn Harps’ Under-21 side have been crowned the inaugural champions of the Liverpool County FA’s Under-21 League, with the destination of the title going down to the final game of the season.

The first Under-21 League saw seven Merseyside teams competing in what proved to be a hugely successful competition that is to be continued in the coming season as a way for Under-18 teams to make a transition into adult football.

Childwall Valley, AFC Wavertree, Finn Harps, Checkem Lads, Litherland Remyca, Churchtown Athletic and MSB Woolton took part this season, with games played on a Saturday morning at 11.00am. Over the course of the campaign, teams played each other three times.

Come the final fixture of the season, both Churchtown Athletic and Finn Harps were competing for the title – with both teams playing each other. Finn Harps sealed a 2-1 victory to emerge title winners.

Stuart Carrington, Football Development Officer at Liverpool FA, said: “We had a fantastic first season with the Under-21s and we’re looking at making this a natural next stage for Under-18 teams progressing to Under-21s before entering adult leagues.”

Liverpool County FA is hosting a meeting at Walton Hall Park on Thursday 14 June at 6.30pm for teams that would like to know more about the Under-21 League, which resumes in September. For more information, please contact Stuart via stuart.carrington@liverpoolfa.com or call 07710 474043.
