Changes to 2019/20 UEFA B Start Dates

The FA issues communication regarding this coming season's UEFA B courses.

Liverpool County FA would like to share the following communication, issued to all coaches by Lucy Pearson, Head of FA Education, regarding a postponement to the start dates of all FA Level 3 (UEFA B) start dates across the country.

Dear Coach,

As head of The Football Association’s education department, I am writing to inform you that the 2019/20 FA Level 3 (UEFA B) in Coaching Football courses will be run from March 2020 and courses planned earlier than this will be moved to the later start date. I appreciate this will be disappointing news, especially if your place has been confirmed, and so want to explain the reasoning behind our decision.

When we launched the new-look FA Level 3 (UEFA B) in Coaching Football course in 2017 we made a commitment to put the individual at its core. We designed it to be flexible to a learner’s needs, combining modern and relevant content with more one-to-one contact time with tutors in club environments.

In the two seasons the new course has been running, more than 2,000 coaches have started their UEFA B learning: three times the total number of learners from the previous 6 years.

The requirements of the course are high and a significant number of those on the course have yet to complete; we want to give these learners the support they need to gain the qualification, and so have agreed with County FAs to delay the start of any new courses until March 2020 so that we can achieve that end.

“It would be irresponsible of us to start further courses if we cannot offer new and/or existing learners the in-situ support that is a core pillar of the course. It is this support that brings the learning to life for you as a coach.

“More than 900 UEFA B places will be available in the 19/20 season; it is not the case that courses have been cancelled.

In the meantime, we want to help you prepare for the UEFA B course and are working with County Coach Developers on a range of introductory activities that will be put in place between the start of the season and when the courses begin. It is important to us that you are set for a successful learning experience and continue developing your coaching for the benefit of your players. Further information will be made available on these activities once they have been confirmed and will be communicated through your County FA.

We appreciate you may have questions about the changes and so from 8 July 2019 an FAQ section will go live on our Help Centre (help.thefa.com).

There are some great CPD opportunities available through The Boot Room (//www.thefa.com/Learning) as well as plenty of practical sessions, tips and guides you can use to develop your skills over the coming season.

Kind regards,

Lucy Pearson
HEAD OF FA EDUCATION
