Waterloo Dock Suffer Late Defeat in Semi-Final

Despite opening the scoring within the first minute of the game, Waterloo Dock Football Club – representing Liverpool FA, succumbed to a 3-1 defeat at the hands of West Riding FA’s Rawdon Old Boys in the Association of Northern Counties Senior Cup semi-final on Saturday 23 February.

In a close competition, Waterloo Dock were unable to turn their lion’s share of possession into goals, as Rawdon Old Boys’ clinical finishing proved the difference between the two sides. Netting in the opening minute, Waterloo Dock were hit with a quick-fire brace from the West Riding side in the later stages of the tie, one of which came from the penalty spot.

“On behalf of Liverpool FA, my thanks go to Waterloo Dock for the magnificent way in which they represented the county and their league in the game," said Doug Lace, Chairman of the Representatives Committee.

"Sadly, the result was not as we’d hoped for, but the team only enhanced their reputation, alongside that of the league and Liverpool FA.”

Everybody at Liverpool FA would like to wish Rawdon Old Boys and West Riding FA the best of luck in the final.
