Wildcats Centres have been delivered across Merseyside over the past three years with over 1000 girls participating to date.

The centres have been run by grassroots football clubs, School Sport Partnerships and private football providers, providing girls aged 5-11 years old with an opportunity to play football in girls only environments, with emphasis on fun, friendship and enjoyment. 

And now, you have the chance to join them, as from November, you will be able to apply to become one of our fantastic Wildcats centres!

HAVE FUN, MAKE FRIENDS, PLAY FOOTBALL.

The sessions take place on a weekly basis, for a minimum of 1hr in a safe environment where girls with no football experience can; have fun engaging with sport, develop fundamental skills, try a variety of sessions, learn new things and create foundations for a lifelong love of sport.

To help deliver your Wildcats Centre you will receive:

• £900 of funding over TWO years

• Coach Training & Support Workshops at Liverpool FA
• Wildcats Coach Mentor visits to help support your coaches
• Access to Wildcats Festivals
• Promotional assets

Liverpool FA are now starting their 2020 recruitment of Wildcats Centres, and we would like to invite your Clubs and Organisations from across Merseyside, to join our Wildcats Centre programme and provide opportunities for girls to play football in your local community and area.

Welcome to Wildcats Guidance 2019/2020

Online applications open on 1 November and close on 31 January 2020.

Pex Hill Wildcats Centre organiser Simon Boyd said: “We now have almost 60 girls. Wildcats are around 15 and we have four teams now. U13s Boca have 13 girls, U11s Diamonds have 14, U9s Belles have nine, U9s Pixies have eight. They all want to stay together as there are siblings across different groups, so we've booked the full size 3G pitch at Wade Deacon High School in Widnes to accommodate them all at the same time.

"We were all chuffed to bits to win the Liverpool FA 2019 Female Development Award at the annual awards evening, and really want to build on it. 20% of our registered players are now girls, which is amazing as this time last year we only had two girls in the whole club! That's all thanks to the Wildcats programme, that they've come along and built the confidence to form teams.”

Anna Long, Football Development Officer at Liverpool County FA, added: “We have large number of Wildcats Centres in the county already delivering girls’ football and with the introduction of 29 new centres in 2019, saw the number of girls involved in the programme over the past three years surpass 1,000.

"Ultimately, we are aiming to have several Wildcats Centres in each of the six borough areas we cover, giving all girls aged 5-11 years the opportunity to play football. We want girls to get involved in fun and enjoyable sessions and, who knows, perhaps we’ll have a number of local girls representing the Lionesses in the future!”
