Referees' Update - March 2020

The latest information for Liverpool County FA referees.

Welcome to the third Liverpool County FA Referee Update of 2020.

Below is the latest news and information for referees registered across the county and, as always, if you have any questions or require assistance, please email david.horlick@liverpoolfa.com

A MESSAGE FROM DAVE HORLICK

To all of our referees across Merseyside,

We’re living in difficult times and now is the time for us, as a refereeing family, to put any differences aside and watch out for any of our officials that fall into the ‘at-risk’ groups.

If you need any support or advice, please click here to see the latest guidance from Public Health England, which is updated daily.

Thank you for all that you do. Until we defeat this problem, please stay safe and my best wishes go out to you and your families.

- Dave

COUNTY CUP FINALS – POSTPONED

Following the government’s announcement on Monday 16 March, for people to avoid social contact and gatherings where possible, Liverpool County FA has advised that all grassroots football on Merseyside be postponed for the foreseeable future.

This includes ALL County Cup finals, coach and referee education courses, and CPD workshops – and will be in effect until at least midnight on Sunday 5 April 2020.

DISCIPLINE ADVICE

As of Wednesday 1 April, Liverpool County FA will be offering support and advice to any official who needs to attend a discipline hearing.

If you’re an official that is required to attend a hearing and wishes to utilise the help and support on offer from Liverpool County FA, please contact dave.horlick@liverpoolfa.com A WEEK BEFORE the hearing, so that you can discuss how Liverpool County FA can support you before, during and after the hearing.

FANCY REFEREEING FUTSAL?

Once football resumes across the country, The FA will control Futsal Referees’ courses from Wembley.

As part of this measure, The FA have appointed regional officers to support this area. The North West officer is Steve Brand and he can be emailed at stevebrandref@hotmail.com

Also, any referee who wants to officiate in the LCFA Futsal League, which will again take place on Fridays once football resumes on Merseyside, please email david.horlick@liverpoolfa.com

SUPPORT ON OFFER FOR SENIOR MATCH OFFICIALS

Liverpool County FA is keen to offer support to our senior match officials, notably at Levels 5 and 6.

In order to do this, the County FA is looking to establish a group that can help provide this support, hopefully with the involvement of the Referees’ Association.

If anybody would be interested in forming part of this group and suggest ways in which the support would be best delivered, please contact david.horlick@liverpoolfa.com

DBS & SAFEGUARDING QUALIFICATIONS

A very important reminder to ALL Liverpool County FA registered referees that, in order to referee football matches from 2020/21, you will require an up-to-date DBS check and a current, in-date FA Safeguarding Children certificate.

Do not leave it too late.

All referees are encouraged to check the status of your current DBS checks and Safeguarding Children certificates now online, via the Whole Game System by clicking here

If you can’t access your Whole Game account, please email david.horlick@liverpoolfa.com

Should your Safeguarding Children certificate be out-of-date by SIX MONTHS or less, you can renew it online at no cost.

Please click here for more information on all the qualifications you need to hold and how to obtain them.
