Two CPD Sessions To Be Delivered By The FA at Walton Hall Park

Coaches invited to register for FREE workshops in October and November.

Across October and November, Liverpool County FA is pleased to announce that The FA will be hosting two CPD workshops for Merseyside’s coaches, with both taking place at our HQ at Walton Hall Park.

Both workshops are completely free of charge, but coaches must register.

Full details of both CPD sessions are available below.

WHY OUR PLAYERS PLAY
Tuesday 19 October 2021 – 6.30pm to 9pm
Delivered by Chris Bramall

This workshop aims to answer the following three questions:

1. What games and practices can I provide that give players the joy of scoring and stopping goals?
2. How can I help players to learn and understand more about the game?
3. How might I use football as a vehicle for developing social skills?

As a result, learners will come away with strategies to understand why our players play, examples of games that could be used to help players love football and enable you to reflect on coaching behaviours and the impact of player motivation.

THE ART OF NOTICING
Tuesday 2 November 2021 – 6.30pm to 9pm
Delivered by Chris Welburn

This event will explore the concept of the Art of Noticing. A facet of an effective coach requires coaches to effectively observe and notice people’s actions, behaviours and emotions. Ultimately, the more coaches understand and connect with the person first by observing, noticing and communicating – the more they will be able to support them and help them thrive.

At the event we will discuss how as coaches we can develop noticing and observational skills. We will explore how this looks through the lens of the 4 corners and will show through practice design what attentional focuses we may want to examine with our players.

The workshop will showcase a range of practice designs and will give the opportunity for coaches to discuss and reflect on how they can develop their noticing skills.

This workshop aims to answer:

1. What do I look for during practices and matches?
2. How do I observe effectively when the picture is constantly changing?
3. How might my observations help me plan for future sessions/games

Come the end of the session, you will be provided with example practices that can be used to help with this topic and tips/tricks to take with you to help you ‘notice’ more.
