Liverpool FA join Liverpool Pride march
Our team took to Liverpool Pride on Saturday 27th July, marching with thousands of other supporters, businesses, and groups to show our solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community.
After weeks of planning, a good spot of British rain, and sore arms from the banner carrying; it’s safe to say they had a great time, and we were proud to show our support. Starting at St George’s Hall, the march weaved its way through the City Centre, the business district and finished up at the Pier Head.
Anna Farrell, Head of Football Development at Liverpool FA said; “Our aim at Liverpool FA is to ensure that all our communities can play the game we all love, no matter what their background, gender, race, religion or sexual orientation. Walking in our first ever Liverpool Pride March and launching our Pride logo, we want the Merseyside LGBTQ+ community to know we see them, we hear them and that we’re here to support them in making football inclusive for all.”
Adam Greaves-Smith, Head of Operations for LCFA added; “Football remains such an important icebreaker in all communities, and our programmes & focus to participate with everyone is so paramount in delivering this. It’s great to see so many organisations championing and supporting the LGBTQ+ community in engaging ways. It’s also been a really proactive year for our LGBTQ+ support within Liverpool FA, and we had such great engagement on the day. A big thanks to our team for giving up their time to join in. Football is for all”.
