Active Through Football

In partnership with the Football Foundation, We are delighted to announce the introduction of the Active Through Football programme in the Liverpool City Region.

Active Through Football is an exciting new programme from Sport England, funded by the National Lottery and the Football Foundation to increase physical activity through football for people aged 16 and over from lower socio-economic groups (LSEG).

Working in Collaboration with Merseyside Sports Partnership, Halton, Knowsley, Liverpool, Sefton and St Helens councils alongside Everton in the Community and the LFC Foundation, this exciting new programme will support targeted communities with getting people more active through till 2026.

Our consortium will use Active Through Football to create accessible opportunities that will improve the health and wellbeing of people in the region.

Tony Smith, Liverpool County FA Football Development Manager, said: “We are excited to be working with the local councils to deliver this exciting new project, we believe this programme can have a real positive impact on people in our area’s lives.”

Sessions will be tailored specifically to the wants and needs of each community with a focus on bringing people together, rather than just playing football.

Richard Jones, the Active Through Football, Project Manager “Community engagement is at the forefront of this project and will be vital in guaranteeing it’s success. Listening to and working with those within the communities will ensure sustainability and a long lasting positive impact on those who get involved.”
