Merseyside's Helen Heading to Cup Final

Liverpool County FA is delighted to reveal that Merseyside official Helen Byrne has been appointed fourth official for this year’s SSE Women’s FA Cup final at Wembley on Sunday 5 May.

The news comes just one day after it was announced that fellow Liverpool County FA referee, Ian Hussin, is to be assistant referee at this year’s men’s FA Cup final between Chelsea and Manchester United.

Helen took her first step on the refereeing ladder at the age of 14 and went on to become the youngest female referee to achieve the Level 3 qualification.

In addition to refereeing, Helen has enjoyed spells as a player with both Everton and Liverpool, and gained her Level 1 coaching badge at the age of 16. Alongside her refereeing duties, Helen volunteers with the Liverpool County FA, in both a refereeing and coaching capacity.

Everybody at the County FA would like to congratulate Helen on her appointment and wishes her the best of luck in the final, which will be contested between Arsenal and Chelsea.
