2018 Grassroots Football Awards

Grassroots Football Awards - Supporter of the Year

Each day this week, Liverpool County FA will be announcing the local winners of this year’s FA and McDonald’s Grassroots Football Awards, which recognise the hard-work, dedication and commitment of the individuals, clubs and leagues across the nation’s grassroots football community.

Supporter of the Year – Linda Hurst

Many congratulations to Linda Hurst, who is the winner of this year’s Supporter of the Year accolade.

Away from football, Linda is a committed foster carer, mother and grandmother. At the age of 75, Linda continues to take boys to their league games daily, whether it be early in the morning, during evenings or over the course of weekends. After losing her husband, Linda continued to support all of the boys she cares for, in addition to each team they play for.

On the pitch, the boys Linda cares for have grown in character, confidence and skill. She is truly a 24/7 football mum and has been to many boys for many years. Linda is somebody that everyone knows and appreciates her commitment and support.

When Linda isn’t ferrying lads to games, she takes them to semi-professional or professional matches, regardless of what team they support. Not only is Linda an inspiration as a football mum, she is an inspiration as a human being.

Thank you Linda, for all of your support to the grassroots game – and the boys you’ve cared for.
