Smokefree Sidelines Policy Briefings for Leagues & Clubs

Affiliated leagues and clubs invited to find out more about new policy to eradicate second-hand smoke.

Liverpool County FA is pleased to announce that it is to host five briefings at VARIOUS VENUES across June and July 2019, providing more information to affiliated leagues and clubs about the brand-new Liverpool Smokefree Sidelines Policy.

The Liverpool Smokefree Sidelines Policy is an initiative being introduced by Public Health Liverpool, Liverpool City Council Parks & Greenspaces Department, the local Stop Smoking Service and Liverpool County FA.

The ambition of the policy is to ensure that all children and young people will be smokefree and have the ability to participate in physical activity and/or sport without being subjected to the harm caused by second-hand smoke.

Developing and maintaining smokefree environments, such as the sidelines of sports pitches, is key to this ambition.

In addition to these parties, the policy is being supported by Everton in the Community, Liverpool FC Foundation, Merseyside County Schools Football Association and Leisure United.

ALL Liverpool County FA-sanctioned youth leagues who play on Liverpool City Council and Parklife Hub facilities will be part of this initiative from the start of the 2019/20 season.

As a result, the Liverpool Smokefree Sidelines Policy briefings have been arranged to ensure that all coaches and officials are aware of everything coming into play.

The briefings are completely free of charge to attend, so please click on the date available to you to secure a spot to ensure you’re booked on to find out more.
