We are aware that over the past fortnight some of our colleagues in grassroots football have reported issues with the speed and functionality of Whole Game System which has also affected FullTime and Matchday. This has happened as a result of a larger number than ever of player registrations, alongside referee administration and intermediary registration. This has come at a time when we know everyone is preparing for the new season or completing administration for those games that have already taken place. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience this has caused and thank you for the additional time you have invested in registering to referee or submitting misconduct.

At the beginning of lockdown, whilst we had anticipated these challenges with Whole Game System and took steps to address them, it clearly wasn’t enough. Last week we deployed a new queueing system for Whole Game System with a view to increasing the system speed, allowing users to complete their tasks more quickly once they are into the system. We have since made some changes to the queuing system which should help prevent more problems logging in when reaching the end of the queue. We know queuing is never popular, we believe this mitigation will help improve performance and stability over the next couple of weeks.

Please bear with us as we are fully aware of the frustrations shared by Referees and County FAs. In the meantime, we can assure you that we are doing everything we can within the limitations of the current system to help you complete your referee administration as quickly as possible.

Thank you for bearing with us,

Craig Donald Chief Information Officer, The FA
James Kendall, Director of Football Development, The FA
