Liverpool County FA is delighted to announce the appointment of Daniel Green as our new Chief Executive Officer.

Daniel will succeed our current Chief Executive Officer, David Pugh, who announced in November that he would step down from the role at the end of January 2021.

Daniel joins Liverpool County FA from the Football Foundation – the charity of the Premier League, The FA and Government. He joined the Football Foundation in 2017 as Regional Engagement Manager for the North West and Isle of Man, leading on the delivery of the National Football Facilities Strategy and driving investment into community football facilities.

Previously, Daniel has held the roles of Head of Participation & Development and Chief Operating Officer at Manchester FA. As part of the Senior Leadership Team, Daniel played a key role in transforming grassroots football both on and off the pitch.

A keen sportsman, he has previously played and volunteered at clubs in the local area. 

"I’m delighted to be given this opportunity to lead one of the country’s most respected County FAs," said Daniel.

"These are challenging times for grassroots football nationally and locally but I’m very passionate about the role football plays and the positive contribution the game can make to society.

"I’m looking forward to joining a talented, passionate and determined workforce, to continue to develop Liverpool County FA into a modern, innovative and inclusive organisation. 

"I would also like to extend my best wishes to David Pugh on in his retirement.”

Ian Wild, Liverpool County FA Chairman, added: “Daniel has a very difficult job following on from Dave, however both the Board and I are confident we have made the right choice. 

“Daniel is taking over at a very challenging period, but we feel he is the right man to guide us through the challenges ahead, and lead us in our aim to be the number one county in the country”

Daniel will officially join Liverpool County FA on the 17 February 2021.
