Girls Division Launches in Liverpool County Premier League

We're excited to announce that the Liverpool County Premier League, our Step 7 male league, is launching its first-ever girls football division!

The new league officially kicked off on Saturday 18 September and will comprimise of U11/U12 teams in a 7v7 format, and matches will take place on Saturday mornings at Walton Hall Park.

The inaugural division provides football for 7 teams who are based in the north end of the city – Brazil Girls, River Junior Girls, Maghull Girls, Litherland Remyca, and AFC Warner Colts.

The Liverpool CFA Girls League was the only Saturday girls league in Merseyside and for the past several seasons have struggled to accommodate demand as we’ve seen a huge increase in girl’s football.

Following a move to a new central venue in the South end of Liverpool, several teams have found themselves unable to travel to their weekly fixtures, so their teams face the prospect of having nowhere to play.

The new division in the Liverpool County Premier League has now provided a very much-needed opportunity for the above 7 teams who were facing the above difficulties to play within their local area.

Anna Farrell, Football Development Officer, said, “To have such a prestigious League like the Liverpool County Premier supporting the development of female football in the city is fantastic. The female game is growing at such a fast pace and we need to ensure that we have opportunities for teams to play in their local areas. We hope that the creation of this division is the first of many in the Liverpool County Premier League and that over the next coming seasons, we will be able to offer a North and South based Saturday Leagues option for our clubs.”
