Kirkby club benefit from Football Foundation Funding for 3G pitch renovation

Kirkby Amateur Boxing Club have had their 3G pitch refurbished thanks to a Football Foundation grant, and are now able to hire out to the community.

Kirkby Amateur Boxing Club received £37,324 from the Football Foundation Small Grants scheme to help their surface renovation.

They used this funding to replace two sand-based multi-use games area (MUGA) pitch with a 3G Astroturf surface, which they are now hiring out to benefit the local community in a way that was impossible before.

"The benefits have been considerable," the club said.

"For example, we earn a considerable weekly amount of revenue from the hire of the pitches. The local community have also been really big users of the pitches with around 16 teams boys and girls using the site as their home pitches. In addition, we are also able to offer sessions for men's and women's teams for specific hours. Given that we now have these pitches, it has also increased the use of activities on our site for a range of sports and health and well-being based activities."
