10 teams from across Merseyside have helped get this season’s Midweek Under-18s Floodlit League off to a flying start, with matches taking place within Liverpool’s new Parklife football centres.

Launched in November 2018, the Midweek U18 Floodlit League fixtures take place on a Thursday evening at two of Merseyside’s Parklife sites – Football at Simpson and Jericho Lane Football Centre.

Hosted for male players aged 18 and above, the 11-a-side competition sees teams compete in 90-minute fixtures, with the following teams involved this season:

• Knockbridge
• Chelwood Rangers
• Mossley Hill
• MSB Woolton Santos
• Chelwood
• MSB Woolton Phoenix
• MSB Woolton Sharks

Anthony Smith, Senior Football Development Officer at Liverpool FA, said: “We’ve always wanted to provide the option of midweek floodlit leagues across Merseyside, but lacked facilities to do so. With the opening of the four Parklife football hubs, we can now provide this to our local footballers. Players don’t just want to play on a weekend; they want the option to play 11v11 midweek. We’ve had great feedback from the clubs involved and we expect this provision to get bigger each season.”
